I love this series but this is one of the weaker ones. The storytelling and artwork wasn't as strong after the first chapter (the result of Noelle Stevenson's absence?), and I didn't care very much about what was going on when the merpeople. This series works best when the stories are centered on the core group of girls, their friendships, their conflicts. The first chapter of this volume was very cool, though, as it served as kind of an origin story. I hope Volume 6 gets back to what I love so much about this series, but I am worried quality will suffer as Noelle Stevenson becomes less involved.
A very great series that my daughter looks forward to with each book.
