The book was an excellent and easy read, it has helped me reignite my relationship with God. The overview above it point on! I am a single (in a committed relationship) female with no children, sometimes Bible Studies are only intended for busy wives/homemakers and mothers. I found this very helpful for my Christian Walk. While some of the examples did not apply directly to me, it was still a wonderful experience that has left me renewed. I also purchased the workbook. Being a very busy woman, sometimes Christ takes the back seat. This gives a great reality check to that and renews his place as first in your life. Meditating in the word is most important to any Christian. Being raised in church and even attending private christian school for most of my life, I still get away from the daily word. The book and workbook are an excellent way to reorganize and regain that daily ritual. Lysa Terkeurst understands this lack of spiritual mediation all too well. Terkeurst is the author of a dozen best-selling Christian women's books, and the president of Proverbs 31 ministries. Even though she is a VERY busy woman and has a job that i dearly envy, she is able to take whatever comes her way. Zondervan published the book in 2009, however it is still very relevant to today's culture and experience. She does not come across as an expert, she remembers dearly when she was in the readers shoes and does not look down or speak in a condescending manner. Again probably intended for the busy mother and wife, I was very much blessed by this book and her testimony.
We read this book as a Bible Study and it wasn't very motivating for me. I thought it was my age, perhaps, but the younger girls said it was hard to be motivated to read it for them too. It was hard to use as a Bible Study book as there are NO questions at the end of the chapters which makes it hard on a leader to figure out what the questions should be. I now see there is a DVD and a workbook that we should have used. Not sure how much better it would have been but at least there's a leader guide and DVD's with the Author teaching.
I liked the book so much I decided to get the study guide and do it with the young lady I disciple. She showed an interest in it, and I thought it would benefit her as well. Lysa Terkeurst is one of my favorite female Christian authors. I love how she is vulnerable and shares her own stories to help others grow from what she has learned. I'd highly recommend getting the book and study guide, and all of her books that I have read are amazing!
Again, I am always amazed with Amazon, both cost of books, and fast shipping. I bought this for a companion of the book. I will be taking a class through Proverbs 31 women, starting at the end of this month.Actually, I have read all of Lysa Terkeurst, she is both a wonderful writer about women of faith, but she is also writes in real life terms that I believe all of us women need..😉
I did this study on my own,without the videos. I was doing this from afar with my Bible study group. Having the videos would have been helpful, but I also read the book along with it, which helped. As with most studies there are always things to learn and new insights to glean. Lisa relates some different ways to understand your reactions to situations....many related to being a wife and a mom.
I have done several of Lysa's studies, but this one really speaks to all the women in my group. It is about real life challenges...how we deal with relationships (spouse, kids, friends), feeling insignificant, how our "things" make us feel important and it all points back to God and how he can help us overcome feelings of poor self worth. We just completed Session 3 so I don't know what lies ahead, but I'm sure it's good stuff :)
Hi, I ordered the digital copy for my smart phone thinking this would be usable in my study. Unfortunately, it is not. While I can view most of the material, it only shows me a percentage of completion at the bottom, and I had no way of knowing what page we were on during the study, rendering it useless to me really. I also didn't realize the need for the hard copy due to note taking, etc. I have now purchased the hard copy of the participant's guide for our study. I wish I had been warned of this, because I cannot use the digital version. Could you exchange the digital version of the participant's guide for the digital version of the book? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much and I look forward to this study!
After signing up for an online bible study of this book with Proverbs 31 Ministries, my bible study group at work chose to read this book for our next study. We will finish the book on Thursday and we have all enjoyed the book. Lysa Terkeurst is an excellent writer who shares her own life experiences with the reader as a way to demonstrate the principles she is teaching while backing it all up with scripture. As one of my friends stated at the beginning of our study, you feel like you are listening to a friend share from her heart right from the introduction of the book.
